Nicole Mayne, DVM, Owner

Dr. Nicole Mayne
DVM, Owner

Dr. Mayne brings extensive experience in small animal and exotic general medicine, shelter medicine, emergency care, and surgery. With a special fondness for the operating room, she is dedicated to continuously enhancing her surgical expertise. Her skillset includes a broad range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, such as fracture repairs and TPLOs.

Committed to global veterinary development, she has interned with Veterinarians Without Borders, contributing to wildlife conservation efforts in Laos. She also volunteers annually with World Vets, participating in various initiatives throughout Central and South America.

Recently, Dr. Mayne was involved in a rhino dehorning project in South Africa and a spay/neuter campaign in the Galapagos, reflecting her passion for wildlife conservation and community service.

Residing in Odessa with her family—which includes three dogs and three cats—Dr. Mayne spends her free time playing rugby, reading by the beach with her partner, and taking her dogs on runs.

Abi  O’Connor, DVM

Dr. Abi O’Connor

After graduating with distinction from the University of Edinburgh in 2011, Dr. O’Connor embarked on an international journey, providing veterinary care in underserved regions across Costa Rica, Brazil, and India. In 2013, she joined forces with World Vets, collaborating with the U.S. Navy on a civil-military humanitarian mission to offer veterinary services to the South Pacific islands.

Since 2013, Dr. O’Connor has gained extensive experience working in general practices, shelters, exotic animal hospitals, and referral centers throughout Pinellas County. Her expertise includes soft tissue surgery, with a particular focus on abdominal procedures and high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. O’Connor enjoys running and hiking with her family and their rescue dog, Tiger, an Indian street dog. She also finds time to ride her Thoroughbred, King, alongside her two children.

Jamie Keener, Veterinary Nurse

Jamie is a passionate Veterinary Technician with 15 years of experience. Having graduated from the SPC Veterinary Technician program in 2009, her career began in a small private practice, but she soon found her true passion in emergency medicine. For the past decade, she’s worked overnight shifts in high-paced emergency and referral hospitals, where she’s honed her expertise in critical care and surgical nursing. Jamie is especially passionate about anesthetic procedures, prioritizing the safety and well-being of patients throughout surgery.

A native Floridian, Jamie enjoys all the state has to offer with her husband, son, three dogs, and two cats. When she’s not working, you’ll find her at the beach, photographing the natural beauty around her, or spending time at Busch Gardens. Weekends are dedicated to cheering on her son’s soccer and football teams with her husband. 

 

Kiersten Spanos, Veterinary Nurse

Kiersten is a dedicated veterinary technician with extensive experience in both primary care and emergency medicine. Her veterinary interests include ultrasound and orthopedic surgery, where she takes pride in supporting advanced diagnostic procedures and complex cases. Kiersten is also passionate about client education, believing that well-informed pet owners play a vital role in their animal’s health and recovery.

Born and raised in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Kiersten grew up in a large Greek family, which instilled in her a deep sense of community, culture, and compassion. In her free time, Kiersten loves cuddling with her two cats, Henry and Cyprus, and her Chiweenie, Charlotte. An avid reader, she often unwinds with a good book, cherishing the quiet moments spent with her husband and furry companions. When she’s not reading, she enjoys exploring new places, trying different cuisines, and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Cris has been a committed veterinary technician since 2014. Starting her career in general practice, she soon discovered her passion for specialty services. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience across multiple departments, including Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Emergency Medicine, and Surgery. Cris is particularly drawn to specialty surgeries, where she finds great satisfaction in guiding clients and their pets through the surgical process, overseeing anesthesia, and providing hands-on support to the doctor during procedures.

Originally from Brazil, Cris relocated to Florida in 2009. An early riser, she kick-starts her mornings at the CrossFit gym, which helps her stay energized and balanced for the long days ahead. Outside of work, she enjoys long-distance running, paddleboarding, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. At home, she treasures moments with her husband and their three beloved boxers, Emma, Norma and Selma.

Molly  Carter, CVT, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia)

Based in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Molly is a Certified Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia & Analgesia with over 14 years of experience. Her background spans emergency and critical care, but her true passion lies in complex anesthesia and specialty surgery. Most of her career has been spent at a large private practice and trauma center, where she honed her expertise and developed a love for high-level anesthetic care.

Molly is currently the Lead Anesthesia Technician at Innovet Surgery and also serves as a remote advisor and support technician for Wildflower Veterinary Surgery. Her ongoing pursuit of knowledge and dedication to the profession continue to shape her dynamic and rewarding career.

Outside of work, Molly loves spending time with her two children, Brady and Scarlett, her husband Walter, and their sweet senior pittie, Bravo.

Monica grew up with a lifelong passion for animals, often bringing home those in need from a very young age. That early love evolved into a fulfilling career in veterinary medicine, and she has now spent over eight years working as a veterinary technician in private general practice. While she enjoys all aspects of patient care, Monica has a particular appreciation for the surgical side of her work, where she can combine precision, teamwork, and compassion to help animals heal.

Outside of the clinic, Monica dedicates much of her free time to fostering dogs and kittens—especially those with medical needs who require extra patience and care. Her home is affectionately known as a “little zoo,” shared with three dogs, seven cats, and two miniature pigs. Whether at work or at home, Monica is deeply committed to advocating for animals and giving them the second chances they deserve.
