Double Trouble: Two Holiday Fracture Repairs

It was the night before Christmas... and two pups really needed some fixing up. Our team faced a challenging but rewarding day as we performed two fracture repairs for two different dogs. Though it was a long day, the satisfaction of helping these pups heal made it all worthwhile. We were able to provide them with the care they needed, ensuring they’d be back on their paws and able to enjoy many more holiday seasons ahead. It’s moments like these that remind us how truly fulfilling our work can be.

Tangle with Holiday Ribbon: A Close Call with a Happy Ending

ThumPurr wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the holidays and decided to nibble on some festive ribbon. Our team quickly fit him into the schedule for emergency care, and we're happy to report he's now back to his playful self, eating like a champ, and winning hearts wherever he goes! Pet owners, be cautious during the holiday season-kitties love strings and ribbons, but they can cause dangerous intestinal blockages. Fortunately, with early intervention and surgery, these issues are often treatable. ThumPurr's moms acted quickly, getting him to his primary vet right away! A big thank you to Bay Animal and Aquatic Hospital for letting us help this sweet kitten!

Daisy’s Tibia Tune-Up: A Fox’s Ortho Mishap

We were honored to collaborate with Fox Tales Florida to help Daisy. She unfortunately got her foot caught in something in her enclosure, resulting in a fractured tibia. After repairing her tibia, we sent her home in a Lick Sleeve to prevent her from licking her incision. Since foxes are especially averse to e-collars, the Lick Sleeve has been a perfect solution for her! We're happy to report that Daisy has been recovering well so far.

Daisy’s Frenchie Fix: A Pup's Quick Comeback After Fracture Repair

Meet sweet Daisy, a French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix who is absolutely adorable. Unfortunately, her Frenchie genes come with a predisposition for incomplete ossification of the humeral condyle, which can lead to fractures. We repaired her injury on Monday, and by Friday she was already trying to get back to her playful puppy antics, sporting her second e-collar! Thankfully, her lick sleeve is also helping to protect her incision. With puppies, it's always best to be extra cautious!

Tulip’s Blooming Recovery: The Importance of Reproductive Care for Small Pets

Tulip is a two-year-old rat whom Dr. Mayne had previously performed an enucleation on last year due to an injury. Recently, she began experiencing vaginal bleeding, which wasn’t linked to an infection. Unfortunately, it’s quite common for older rats to develop reproductive diseases, including cancer. We spayed Tulip and discovered a large mass in her left uterine horn, which was noticeably larger and darker than the right. Thankfully, Tulip is recovering well and has already started enjoying her favorite treats again. Spaying and neutering isn't just for dogs and cats – it’s important for small animals too!
